Awhile ago you said how you were entirely self taught, but how did/do you get past the frustration of not being able to get the results that you see internally? I'm trying to learn now but I'm struggling a lot because I can't really get far without getting frustrated due to not being able to get where I want to go, and I don't know how to get over it and just draw

i think fr me its a combo of managing my expectations and just enjoying the overall process, i dont give much of a shit about end products (i probably should lmaoo).
-on managing expectations, if i were a beginner at sewing for example i would not expect myself to be able to make a perfect robe a la francaise, so i’d start small and get better over time, same deal applies to art.
-possibly controversial opinion but, too often i see people put themselves on pedestals and expect the best because secretly they think theyre special, and that they shouldnt have to put in the same amount of work as everyone else, imo its a lot healthier to view yourself as a complete normie Whos Got Passion. Im not special, i just like to draw, i expect 99.999% of artists are the same way
-it’s great to have ideas, but if youre biting off more than you can chew you can get overwhelmed, so consider taking a step back and breaking down all the elements of your idea separately.
-you wanna draw some guy standing in a white void? great, break it down: -proportions -standing pose studies -face studies -collect reference -do a few iterations
it will never be perfect and it’ll be slow going but its better to go slow than to give up
So you mentioned that you use TV and movie screenshots as practice for sketching, could we see some of the sketches? Totally cool if not, and I love your art!
